I’ve never seen one so well-preserved! I still don’t want it, though... what do you think- is this tarted-up ball of malaise-era “who gives a shit? Slap a Caddy badge on a Cavalier and let’s go to the bar” worth $3k?

To me? Hell no. But these things do have their followers. I used to work with a guy who absolutely LOVED his. Someone will probably pay that price for it.
I got my license in 1985 and have always hated these things.

My plan for a clean Cimarron if one mysteriously appears at my yard:
-Remove the stock powertrain
-Strip excessive weight (luxury stuff, 5 mph inner bumpers etc.)
-Acquire firm and low Opel Vectra/Ascona suspension kit
-Install a souped up C20LET engine with a manual (F20) gearbox
-Put sticky 16" tires with black steel wheels under the Cimarron
-Tidy up the exterior
-Wear Cadillac t-shirt
-Attend track days and have fun
-?
